The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has issued the Circular on the Commencement of Work for the Year 2026.
The official commencement ceremony will be held on Thursday, 1 January 2026, the first working day of the year, with the participation of all public servants at their respective service stations. All public institutions at national, provincial, district, and divisional levels are instructed to conduct the programme accordingly.
The programme will include hoisting the National Flag and singing the National Anthem, observing two minutes of silence in remembrance of members of the Tri-Forces and others who sacrificed their lives for the nation, reading the Oath or Affirmation of Public Servants in a suitable language, and delivering a brief speech on government policies, current challenges, and the role of public servants in achieving national objectives.
