Revised School Timetable Structure from 2026

Starting in 2026, schools across Sri Lanka will follow a newly structured daily schedule. Below is the proposed division of learning periods:

Time Activity
07:30 am School starts / Religious observances
07:50 am – 08:40 am 1st Period
08:40 am – 08:45 am Attendance marking
08:45 am – 09:35 am 2nd Period
09:35 am – 10:25 am 3rd Period
10:25 am – 11:10 am 4th Period
11:10 am – 11:30 am Break
11:30 am – 12:10 pm 5th Period
12:10 pm – 01:00 pm 6th Period
01:00 pm – 01:50 pm 7th Period
01:50 pm – 02:00 pm Recitation of the Chhatta Manawaka Gatha

Note: This timetable is subject to further revisions.

While this structure outlines the daily schedule, the Ministry of Education has yet to issue a detailed announcement on how the total number of periods per grade will be allocated under the 2026 education reforms.
