- Description
- MPhil (SLQF 11): A postgraduate research degree known as a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) acts as a transitional degree between a PhD and a taught master’s program. It is intended for students who want to do independent research to expand their understanding of a particular subject. Under the supervision of a supervisor, the MPhil usually entails completing original research and creating a thesis that exhibits topic mastery, research abilities, and critical analysis.
- PhD (SLQF 12): The highest academic degree granted in a variety of fields is a doctor of philosophy (PhD), which denotes proficiency and a noteworthy original research contribution to a topic. It is intended for people who want to increase knowledge, create novel solutions, and support advancements in academia, science, or industry.
- Requirements for Entry
- Has earned a First or Second Class Upper Division Bachelor of Honors degree (SLQF level 06) with at least 30 credits in the appropriate field from an accredited university or institution; OR
- Has postgraduate credentials in the relevant field with a significant research component approved by the Faculty Board and the Senate, along with a Bachelor’s degree (SLQF level 05); OR
- Has earned a two-year, full-time Master’s degree in the relevant discipline that has a significant research component (SLQF level 10) approved by the Senate and Faculty Board; OR
- Possesses another Master’s degree in the appropriate subject that satisfies the requirements of SLQF level 9 and includes a significant amount of research that is approved by the Senate and Faculty Board; AND
- Sufficient performance on a selection exam and/or interview, as well as a solid command of the English language.
